Dissertation chapter layout

Your dissertation will start with a Title page which will contain details of the author/researcher, research topic, degree programme (the paper is to be submitted for) and research supervisor. The name of your university, logo, student number and submission date can also be presented on the title page.

Give at least 4 line space then write your name, also centered. After some more line spaces write the name of your university and department. Acknowledgement: Here you thank those who have assisted you in your dissertation writing. Table of contents: They should include all your chapters and sub chapters along with their page numbers.

The conclusion chapter (attempts to) answer the core research question. In other words, the dissertation structure and layout reflect the research process of asking a well-defined question (s), investigating, and then answering the question – see below.

The body of your dissertation or thesis will be divided into chapters and the chapters will be divided into sections and sub-sections. You do not want to “loose” your reader so you need to structure the body of the dissertation or theses carefully. You should make it as logical, cumulative and simple as possible.
